You don't need more offers, you need fewer but said better.
Leadership teams do not need more data services. They need one clear promise, said better.
I arrived at the answer: leadership teams do not need more data services. They need one clear promise, said better.
Most organisations are not short of data. They are short of clarity. They have reporting, dashboards, warehouses, analytics teams and vendor relationships. What they do not have is a management system that turns any of it into better decisions.
The natural response to this problem is to add more. More services, more capabilities, more language. But the more you add, the less anyone remembers what you are for.
The discipline is not in building. It is in removing.
I removed the operating model transformation. I removed the customer experience consulting offer. I removed the broad digital transformation language. I removed the founder-focused positioning. I removed the revenue intelligence framing. I removed everything that diluted the one thing I am best at.
What remained was Data & Analytics.
DATA → ANALYTICS → DECISIONS → PERFORMANCE
This is the intersection where management consulting should live. Not in dashboards. Not in BI implementation. Not in generic strategy. But in the translation of data into management value.
The test is simple: if you removed the offer, would your best client miss it? If the answer is no, the offer is noise.
I now work in two ways.
First, the Data & Analytics Assessment. Understand the current state before you invest. Data architecture, quality, governance, reporting environment, KPI architecture, analytics maturity, risks and gaps. Outcome: a current-state assessment and a prioritised transformation roadmap.
Second, Data & Analytics Transformation. The flagship. Help organisations build a data and analytics environment that leadership can actually use to manage the business. Data architecture, governance, quality, management reporting, KPI systems, analytics, executive reporting, data storytelling, decision-support systems, data operating model. Turn fragmented data into a reliable management system for better decisions and stronger performance.
That is the entire commercial architecture.
Everything else is noise.
The question is not: what else can we offer?
The question is: what can we remove — and still be the best in the room at the one thing that matters?
That is the signal.
